WHO WE ARE Yran & Storbraaten Architects A/S was founded in 1987 and is one of the world’s leading Architectural firms in the Cruise Vessel industry. We have an international client list that has only grown taller over the years. Our design philosophy is different, what makes it different? It is not one style but a diversity of styles, matched perfectly to the individual concept for each project. The inspiration for our design solutions has three main sources; the relationship with the clients, the innovative staff and the partners preferences.

 
CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS
Yran & Storbraaten listen carefully to their clients. Often the initial briefing has many hidden wishes, wich we, as experienced architects can illuminate and develop so the client can get even more than expected. Each client and each project is a new challenge. The Y&S partners and staff thrive on challenges. The latest technical developments and trends, together with the clients styling requirements, are the basis for our design process that enables us to give that something extra. A good dialog with the client is rewarding for all parties. The clearer our clients can describe their wishes and preferences, the easier it is for us to achieve common goals. When our clients are pleased, then we as designers feel rewarded.
 
PARTNERS PREFERENCE
If no other brief is given from the client, and the design is put in hands of the architect, the inclination of the partners in Y&S is to seek an exclusiveness in design within the modern design language. This design, made for the hospitality market, requiers a warmth, often not thought to present in modern design, and is therefore paramount that the modern lines be married with a sophisticated warmth in colour and detailing. At its best, the design also achieves detailing with a sense of humor, giving the users something pleasant to talk about. At times the client requires a chosen, often themed design language, wich can still contain this exclusiveness. This challenge is welcome in our design school. We are not trying to make a certain style, but we look at ourselves as taking care of extreme commercial demands; - after all our design is part of the client’s brochure. The result from Yran & Storbraaten is always high quality design.
 
STAFF
Each project has a carefully selected team of architects and designers, lead by an experienced project leader and project leader assistant. All members of the team give active input to the design process, and as our staff originate from different countries, our clients benefit from an amazing source of cultural wealth. This helps Y&S to understand the future passenger taste and requirements. This highly professional group of staff, who are strongly dedicated to their work, are the source of Y&S creativity.
